Hello! I am Austin Yarnot, a passionate game design major currently a full-time student for GIMM (Games, Interactive, Media, Mobile Technology) at Bosie State University. I am currently in my second year of classes doing my best to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.4.
My love for game design has delved into multiple different aspects but I have a particular focus on level design and programming. Through my academic journey, I have honed my skills in programming, 2D and 3D art, level design, and UI/UX design, and have even dabbled in website development. During my time I have also honed skills as a "Scrum master" for multiple projects. These skills have allowed me to broaden my understanding of the ins and outs of game development and also helped me be even more creative with my ideas.
Outside of the classroom, I find joy in going on longboard rides with friends, and even in my leisurely moments have taken up the challenge of learning the piano.
Fishing Minigame: The Game is a group project that was created in my second-to-last semester of college. This project was meant to teach us replication in Unreal and was our first time officially working with Unreal Engine. My group came up with the idea of making a game where you run around, try to catch more fish than the others in a set amount of time, and also stop the other person.
Subject 7 is an ongoing VR project that was meant to show how to do level design for UE5 vr. This project is still in the early stages of development, but I have been working on it every week for the past few months. The project is a non-linear puzzle game where the user needs to solve a bunch of puzzles to escape the testing facility they are held in.
Varscent is a client project that my fellow group members and I were tasked with creating the Unity side of a scent-based alzheimers detection device. My role in this project has so far been to create and add backend functionality to the middleware that interfaces with the Arduino scent device and Unity.
The Allegory of Superposition was a group project that was created in my second semester of the GIMM program. This project was meant for us to learn how to use different mediums to explain abstract ideas and my group got superposition.
